Perhaps the coolest hanging garden since Babylon is nearing completion in downtown Singapore! The Parkroyal Hotel on Pickering hotel Singapore is scheduled to open at the end of this year.
Check out the renderings on ArchDaily and more construction photos below:
The contoured tower podium acts as an open passageway on ground level, conceals the carpark, and acts as a garden terrace.
Greenery extends vertically into the tower with landscaped balconies.
Open-air toilets on the back side of the tower features a textured facade comprised of brightly coloured pots.
I pass by the building every day and people are constantly raving about it- tourists, expats, locals, young and old. Mostly they say ‘oh wow!’ or ‘how cool is that!?’, I’ve even heard a business man wax lyrical about the way Singapore builds high without creating oppressive canyons of skyscrapers. Cars slow down as the drivers stare in awe. People point and take photos all the way from chinatown where the colorful potted plants are prominently visible. I even saw a baby in a stroller going crazy shouting ‘tree!’ and pointing at the skygardens. It’s really a stunning building, and everyone who passes by takes notice!
UPDATE: This building has officially opened to the public!
