This magnificent old Dutch bank building was constructed over a century ago in 1908 on the banks of the Batang Arau River in the heart of Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It has been carefully restored after extensive damage during the 2009 Sumatra earthquake, the resilient historic building survived but the modern annex building was damaged beyond repair. Archigardener is working on plans to transform the ruins of the annex block into a bespoke boutique hotel covered in plants, deferring to the old building.
