My first visit to a building by Glenn Murcutt (Australia’s only Pritzker Prize winner so far) did not disappoint!

This contemporary mosque is open to the surrounding landscape, while retaining a strong civic presence. There’s a lot to see: beautifully cast concrete, drainage details expressed in column capitals, multicoloured indirect light wells, reflecting pools, and just fantastic details everywhere you look.
The building is located in Newport, a half hour drive from Melbourne, Australia. I visited outside of prayer times and the building was freely accessible.
