You might have seen this futuristic concept for a hyper-dense, vertical-stacked city with all of the urban and green amenities of a conventional ground-based city when it was released back in 2011. The concept has taken on a new dimension with a super cute parallax animation (a collaboration between WOHA Architects and Obilia) bringing the conceptual city to life:
This conceptual scheme envisages a high-density (100,000 people per square kilometer!) tropical city of the future which achieves a development intensity four times that of the centre of Manhattan or Hong Kong, with ample public spaces and amenities. This is acheived by using skyscrapers as city-scale ‘columns’ which support multiple ‘new ground levels’ which could host parks, recreation, industry, horizontal transport systems and even urban farming.
