I have always been fascinated by historic block prints, but have been put off by the laborious process of carving the blocks. I’ve been playing around with a 3D printer, and thought that this technology would be perfect to create custom stamps for block printing.
I designed and 3D printed a few designs which can be rotated and joined in any direction to create endlessly repeating designs with limitless variations to the pattern. The intersection of digital fabrication and hand crafting in the results is fascinating!
