Another brutalist building in danger of demolition! Architects around the world have voiced their support for the preservation of Bertrand Goldberg’s iconic building. We recently watched in horror as the Commission on Chicago Landmarks overturned it’s landmark designation- paving the way for Northwestern to tear down this modern monument. The Chicago Architectural Club even recently hosted an ideas competition for the adaptive re-use of the former Prentice Women’s Hospital.
All of this has me wondering- rather than demolish Goldberg’s iconic building, why not move it to a new location? It can retain some of it’s original context by sitting on another modernist tower block, while increasing it’s prominence within the architectural discourse of Chicago. Future archi-tourists can enjoy spectacular skyline views from the Prentice Boutique Hotel.
Any thoughts?

It's a great idea to move the building. They are going to tear it down anyways, and one man's trash is another man's treasure.
not everything is meant to be preserved, and the finances of moving the building just isnt viable
