A winner has been selected in a SIA architectural design competition to design a new cultural centre in Little India, Singapore. The competition attracted a number of interesting entries of a very high quality.

The winning design by Robert Greg Shand (in collaboration with urban design and general consultants Urbnarc) is described as an ‘urban lantern’, inspired by the motif of traditional Indian ‘Baoli’ (stepped well).
